Dance Movement Therapy
Dance Movement Therapy, or Dance Movement Psychotherapy, is defined as the psychotherapeutic use of movement, through which an individual can creatively engage in a process that promotes emotional, cognitive, physical, and social integration.
In addition to verbal communication, Dance Movement Therapy utilizes the movement of the body as a significant means of expression, grounded in the principle that movement reflects an individual's thought and consciousness.
Dance Movement Therapy explores the continuous interaction between our psychological and physical states. It is a holistic approach that addresses the individual as a whole: body-mind-emotion, based on the idea that any change in one of these areas is likely to affect the others.
Our body and its movement can express aspects of our unconscious, such as memories and emotions that are difficult to recall or recognize otherwise. Dance Movement Therapy actively works towards restoring communication between the unconscious and conscious parts of ourselves. The body expresses emotions through movement that we often struggle to articulate in words: What can the body convey through its form, movement, and rhythm? How can physical pain be connected to our psychological state? Dance Movement Therapy regards the body as a fundamental tool in cultivating awareness that promotes change on a psychosomatic level.
In a safe therapeutic environment, individuals are assisted in expressing themselves with professional support and guidance from the dance movement therapist. The therapist encourages the individual to connect kinetic expression with verbal understanding. A fundamental principle of Dance Movement Therapy is the creation of a relationship of trust and acceptance between the therapist and the individual seeking therapy.

Dance Movement Therapy can be applied individually and/or in groups, recommended as either the primary treatment or as a complementary approach alongside other forms of therapy and education. Over the past 20 years, Dance Movement Therapy has been successfully implemented in Cyprus, showing positive results in mental health services, substance abuse rehabilitation units, institutions for individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities, specialized medical units, education, and the private sector (nursing homes, kindergartens, private therapy centers, dance schools).

Drama Therapy
What is drama therapy? Drama therapy is a psychotherapeutic approach that intentionally uses all forms of theater and action in the therapeutic relationship. It provides a safe space where symbolism meets dialogue using role plays, storytelling/myths, integration, dramatization, improvisation, rituals, masks, use of voice, puppetry, etc.
Through creative expression, the individual can come into contact with his or her emotions and body, process difficult experiences, discover new resources, act freely in the safe context of the group, be led to a deeper knowledge of himself or herself and develop a better quality of life. Drama therapy is for people of all ages.

Stella helped me through dance therapy to find out that all that is happening around me is not me.
